About Us
The Old Michie Theatre for Youth and Puppetry Arts is dedicated to serving families in the Central Virginia region. The theatre is under the direction of its founders, Frances C. Furlong and Steven M. Riesenman. Our mission is to inspire students with the joys of live theatre and puppetry arts. We believe that the best way to do this is to expose children and young adults to positive, stimulating, and accessible cultural and educational opportunities in their community.
The Old Michie Theatre is a member of England's new Shakespeare Globe Theatre Trust., Piedmont Council of the Arts; The American Alliance for Theatre Education; and Puppeteers of America. The theatre does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, gender, or national or ethnic origin. The facility is wheelchair accessible.
